An interview with Senior Director of Strategic Solutions, Ashley McGee
Great companies are made up of great people. Here at Jumo Health our most valuable resource is our team. We are a collective of medical folk, product people, designers, and storytellers that share a common goal to change health care today. Through our We Are Jumo Health series, we will be introducing you to the dedicated people who are the heartbeat of Jumo Health.
This month, we’d like you to meet Ashley McGee. Ashley is the newest member of our team — but with her experience and drive, you’d never know. Meet Ashley!
What is your current role at Jumo Health?
Senior Director, Strategic Solutions
What led you to Jumo Health?
I was in the CRO industry for over 14 years, which gave me the opportunity to learn a lot about clinical research. We’re constantly evolving as an industry and the shift in mindset to focus on the patients, or “patient centricity” as we often hear it, has really resonated with me in terms of how we should be approaching clinical research. Jumo Health started coming up in several of my conversations with clients and industry colleagues, so I started doing my research and knew right away I wanted to be a part of what this company is doing.
What is the thing you like most about working in health care?
I like working in health care because of the constant innovation and the people I meet across our industry who are so passionate about making a positive impact on people’s lives.
What motivates you?
Anytime I hear about one of my friends or family members receiving a diagnosis, it’s always hard, and reminds me why I do what I do. But then there are the conversations I’ve had with friends who have a child who has received a life-threatening or completely life-changing diagnosis that absolutely breaks me. The genuine desire to want to give a glimpse of hope and somehow ease the pain of the entire journey is what motivates me.
What are you most excited about for the future of Jumo Health?
Jumo Health already has the most important asset— talented, passionate people who are laser-focused on improving the experience for patients and their care circle. With the increased focus on empowering patients, the demand for better resources for patients, their care circle, and the site staff will continue to increase; this is our niche, and Jumo Health is positioned to deliver.
What is the most important thing you’ve learned in the last five years?
Getting better at something doesn’t mean it’s going to get easier.
What are some hobbies or interests that you have outside of work?
Working out (yes, I actually like it), boating, and listening to live music.
Finish this sentence, I am happiest when...
I am happiest when I’m socializing with family and friends — especially over good food!
