Definition

A urinary tract infection (UTI) means an infection in any part of the urinary system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. It is more common in females. Typically, a UTI is associated with a persistent urge to urinate, as well as pain on urinating. It is usually treated with antibiotics.
