Spinal Cord Injury

Definition

A spinal cord injury is damage to any part of the spinal cord or nerves at the end of the spinal cord. This injury often causes significant changes to muscle strength, sensation and other bodily functions below the level of injury and can sometimes result in paralysis. It causes an interruption of the messages that go between the brain and the body as the spinal cord is like the motorway for messages.
