Definition
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks healthy tissues and organs. It can affect any part of the body, particularly skin, joints, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs. It is more common in females, and although it can occur at any age, it is usually diagnosed between ages 15 and 45.
