Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Definition

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a type of cancer that affects certain blood forming cells, called myeloid cells. In CML, a genetic change in immature versions of myeloid cells means that these cells turn into CML cells. The leukemia cells grow and divide, and spill out into the bloodstream, sometimes settling in organs such as the spleen.
