Staff Accountant

The staff accountant is responsible for recording journal entries, preparing balance sheet account analysis, accounts payable processing, cash management, audit support, and helping to ensure the accuracy of financial statements prepared for the month end close process. This position requires an experienced accounting professional that is capable of assisting in various projects and other ad hoc analysis as assigned.  

The successful candidate must have the ability to set and execute against defined project plans, presenting on-going status updates to the internal project team and, possibly, the client.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in the monthly financial closing process
  • Conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account
  • Prepare and post journal entries for month end closing
  • Review and process expense reports
  • Own all facets of the Accounts payable function.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation.
  • Maintain financial files/documentation
  • Preparing check payments, obtaining authorizing signatures and filing
  • Client collections and cash applications
  • Maintain financial files/documentation
  • Analyze general ledger accounts
  • Cash management
  • Generate annual 1099s
  • Integrate data from internal or external sources to provide data for analysis and/or reporting
  • Generates routine and ad-hoc reports using internal and external data sources to complete data requests
  • Presents information in a concise, user-friendly format by determining target audience needs to support decision processes outcomes
  • Bachelor’s Degree in financial field with a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated, solid accounting experience
  • Exemplary attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, and manage various priorities and projects in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills; able to discern alternatives and make objective recommendations
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other departments
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Accounting Software)
  • Ability to handle financial information with discretion
